To co-ordinate or not to co-ordinate?

Okay, so not quite as catchy as Shakespeare’s poser, but definitely something that’s bugged me for quite a while. As a kid, all my classmates had crazy, mad, riot-of-colour Christmas trees, while my mum insisted on a tasteful bronze and copper affair that I wasn’t allowed to help decorate. The thing was, it looked fantastic! Sorry, peeps, but I’m a colour co-ordinating little Christmas fairy - if it doesn’t match, it’s not going on my tree!

Your tree looks so lovely! And all your presents wrapped up! Ah, so Christmassy.

Mine is the opposite. I have red, yellow, green, blue, silver, wood, purple felt, plastic deer, little birds, paper garlands made from maps, and every year new things added with no regard to what’s already in my bauble stock. Not matchy at all! But somehow charming.

I think I take after my Dad whose tree is still filled up with ugly glitter glue trinkets I made as a child that are rolled out every year rather than quietly retired.

Your’re right, mish-mash Christmas trees have definite charm - they feel Christmassy and organic.

Also - the green presents are the ones Simon wrapped, the red ones are the ones I wrapped - he wrapped mine, I wrapped everyone else’s. Boys! (Okay, I had a fantastic Sunday wrapping)

[...] some of my festivities, and a great chutney recipe, with you all. Kirsty posted about her lovely Christmas tree a few days ago, a carefully coordinated vision in silver and blue. Clearly I come from the other [...]
