It’s funny how I go through a patch of not blogging much, not making much, doing mainly other things, and then pouf! all of a sudden ideas keep popping into my head and I can’t help it.
Here’s things that are making me feel excited today:
- really lovely camera case tutorial (pictured above) on Ayumill’s exciting new blog Pink Penguin, just crying out to me to make little quilted purses and clutch bags
- utterly charming broderie anglais pebbles from Stephanie Barnes upcoming picnic collection. I can’t fathom why these appeal quite so much to me, but they do
- Stuart Kovakolic’s amazing nine metre long Never Been mural
- cute and simple DIY paper sihouette tutorial by threepotatofour on Design*Sponge, giving me ideas for greetings cards.

I’ve fallen for Helen Dardik’s designs big time. I stumbled upon her website literally minutes ago, and my head exploded with ideas of what I could make if I could afford to commission her designs as fabric. Curtains, cushions, skirts, bags… Or wallpaper! Wouldn’t this make the scary-coolest wallpaper?

I’ve just been back from San Francisco a day, but as I could just as easily make this a list of things I love about San Francisco I’ll at least put at:
:: 1 - The fact that SF has a ‘Twin Peaks’ much like one of my favourite TV series, but in this case it’s two hills atop which you can see a spectacular view of the city.
:: 2 - My new earrings made by fearfulpenguin which are rainbow coloured and lovely.
:: 3 - Pinot noir, and my newly found love of seafood - I used to be a bit scared of eating it but now I’ll try almost anything (bar raw oysters). Read more…

The few days of sunshine here have passed, replaced by greyness and a chill wind, so I am taking up Soule Mama’s lead today and posting 10 reasons to be joyful. Ways to beat the February funk, she says. To my mind “funk” always meant spandex, afros and platform shoes rather than dull, dark days, but I’m in agreement that February can get you down.
So to redress the balance, here’s my 10. Do feel free to join in, either in the comments or with a link to your own blog post. Read more…
