Rock ‘em, sock ‘em

I’ve just finished my second pair of socks! Okay, so I used the same easy-peasy free pattern that came with the yarn and it is Kaffe Fassett self-striping wool, so I didn’t really have any artistic input, but I’m still quite chuffed with myself. I’ve overcome my nervousness of DPNs, which is nice because it opens up a lot of knitting opportunities, and found the perfect outlet for my very impatient style of knitting - jumper? Fleurgh! Only lovely quick socks, please!
But where else is there to go with my wield-worthy DPNs? Well, I’m in constant envy of Library Girl Knits and her sock-making talent, so I might get brave and try some more intricate patterns. I like cables, although the thought of adding another needle to the five that I’m already using is slightly daunting. Daunting be damned!
Socktopus yarns also look like a treat and I might take the plunge and join their sock club - I love post, so getting regular scrumptious yarns and new patterns through the post would be ace.
There’s also a couple techniques that I’d like to get my teeth into (metaphorically speaking, of course; I’ve already shared my yarn + mouths = shudder thoughts), such as toe-up sock knitting and knitting both socks at once on a circular needle - I’ve just read an article about this and it still baffles me. Considering the paddy I had when I first tried to decipher my current sock pattern and how easily it clicked into place after, I shouldn’t let the bafflement stop me.
I’m going to have to work on my sock puns if I’m going to keep posting about my adventures, though…

[...] to read, though, so hopefully they’ll inspire me out of my funk. I’ve been knitting a lot recently, so maybe I need to dedicate some word [...]

Whoa. Someone envy of my sock skills. That’s very flattering since it takes me just about FOREVER to knit a pair. Thank you very much.

Wow - that really wasn’t English. It should say ‘Someone envious…’

Both socks on a circular needle? That would take some explaining to get me to understand. It hurts thinking about it. I’m going to go back to knitting a beret for my sister’s birthday. On straight needles.
Let me know if you ever try socks toe up. It sounds sensible…but complicated!

They are lovely socks, I’m envious that you knit so well, you certainly didn’t get that talent from me.
I’ve got wool for you and I can post it if you want, it’s quite nice wool but not scrummy wool.
