Pumpkin Pie Quest

About three years ago, Stephen made me a pumpkin pie. It was love at first bite.
Since moving to America I’ve been amazed by the range of pumpkin-flavoured things available through the autumn season; pumpkin lattes, ice-creams and milkshakes. I’m now making it my mission to try as many pies and ‘flavoured items’ as possible. Purely for scientific reasons, you understand.

Right by my house there’s an Astroburger, a decent diner chain that does quality burgers, great rice pudding and as it turns out, pretty brilliant pumpkin pie. Denny’s on the other hand does a predictably artificial tasting pie, overloaded with sweetness. House of Pies probably do my favourite (I suppose that makes sense – if they don’t win at pies, who can?)

But I need to try more, I tell you. Any suggestions? Anyone seen any pumpkin pie sneaking into England lately?

I’m in love with all things pumpkin – except pie, because it wobbles. You can now buy pumpkins in England that are for cooking rather than carving, so British shops have seen the bandwagon even if they haven’t quite jumped on yet. Luckily, my friend Jen is from New York and is the font of all pumpkin recipe knowledge. Make the pumpkin bread I posted about t’other week!

I love pumpkin, too! I am very interested in trying some of the pumpkin drinks out and about right now- at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Starbucks, etc…I am sure they will all taste awful, but I can’t stay away from pumpkin. Last night, we ate at Boss Sushi, which is offering a warm pumpkin soup. I missed out on it, but want to go back and try it. Interested?
