This is a rather gratuitous post just to celebrate my excitement at today’s visit to my favourite local fabric shop. I spent ages looking through all the shirt fabrics with a few projects in mind, and left inspired with even more and with a big pile of lovely crisp cottons.
It is raining so miserably today. I am stuck inside with my fabrics, dreaming of the warm weather to come, still seemingly so far off. I am thinking about these cottons and the clothes they will become, and the days I will spend in them sitting and living outdoors.
Can anyone recommend a really good simple summer dress pattern for that white and red striped linen at the bottom?

I don’t think that I could ever make my own shirts! My clothes skills are currently limited to wrap skirts.

I’m soon to find out. My book calls it ‘medium’ skilled.

Also, where was this magical fabric shop? I’ve been looking for a good one that I can get to from work, but to no avail.

I threw my last “intermediate” piece out in disgust - pattern, fabric, pins and all! That may have more to do with me than the pattern, mind.

Kirsty - the fabric shop is the one on Ridley Road Market in Dalston that I mentioned. I always seem to go for the things on the very top shelves that have to be gotten down with a pole.
