My LYS

I’ve lived in four different cities since I was re-bitten by the knitting bug four years ago (hmm, maybe I should learn to stay put) and, since then, I’ve been searching in vain for a LYS (Local Yarn Store, for you non-knitting geeks). Well, perhaps I will be staying put, now that I’ve found I Knit London.
I Knit is run by Gerard Allt and Craig Carruthers (male knitters? how droll!) and takes its role in the knitting community very seriously. Not only do they stock everything that a knitter’s heart could desire (ooh, I’m looking forward to my Christmas stocking this year!), but the calendar is crammed full of events, classes and their twice weekly knitting club. They also seem to be good mates with Jane Brocket and Debbie Stoller. I’ve haven’t yet found the time to drop in on the knitting club, but I’ve been browsing in the shop while a class has been happening, and they seem to be having a right laugh. I think I’ll be making it an NY resolution to become a fully fledged I Knitter…

I Knit London is in Vauxhall, London. If you can’t make it there, they also have an online shop.

I wish I could find a nearby knitting group! It’s been a while since I’ve even knitted one of my trademark basic knit-only scarves, and surely someone must be able to get me to purl properly…

Hmm, maybe I could try and post a purl tutorial. I find purl much easier than knit, thought that might be because I’m left-handed.
