My current favourite project at the moment has to be the adorable scarf that I’m making for my husband’s nan. I’m using Artesano Inca Cloud, which is a 100% alpaca yarn and is so soft that I think I’m making it grubby by touching it so much!
I’ve been intrigued by cables for a long while, but I’ve not been able to find a way to use them without looking like I belong on a remote Scottish island (nowt wrong with that, of course, but I just knew that cables could be so much more versatile if I thought about it for long enough). The basic pattern is a 2×4 rib, with a C4F on each four. Like most knitting language, cable abbreviations seemed for a long time like the key to a mystical portal that I just couldn’t possess, but it’s slowly falling into place. C4F, in plain english, simply means that you slip the first two stitches onto the cable needle, knit the next two, then knit the first two from the cable needle, creating a lovely twist. It’s hella fiddly and slow progress, cabling every eight stitches, but I’m so pleased with the results!

It’s going to be hard to part with this scarf, but it’s so delicate and dainty that it deserves to be worn by someone as lovely as my husband’s nan!

I wish I could touch it! I think this is a little beyond my skill level just yet. And also my patience level! It does look lovely though, I’m sure Mr Kirsty’s nan will be super happy with her beautiful new scarf.
I bought yarn today - some black red and yellow to knit a flamey hat for my mister, and a lovely textured green yarn that will inevitably become a scarf/belt affair for yours truly.
Hobbycraft are giving away knitting needles at the moment for every two balls of yarn purchased. Guess how many free needles I got?!?!?!
