Knitted Christmas decorations by Soule Mama

Soule Mama is one of those blogs that I love to dip into for crafty inspiration, and I’d recommend it to anyone who secretly (or maybe not-so-secretly!) yearns for a quick hit of domestic bliss. Anyway, I absolutely have to share this post, in which the author knits a beautiful garland for her Christmas tree (pictured above). Now I’m all for a bit of festive craft – just you try to keep me away from the home-made cards and lavish centrepieces! – but I just can’t imagine having the patience to knit a garland big enough for a full-size tree. Needless to say, I’m impressed!
Now, this brings me to my point: I’m planning on handmaking a few of my own decorations this year. I’ve an idea for a wreath that I can’t wait to share with you all (assuming it doesn’t go horribly wrong, in which case I’ll save it for our forthcoming feature on craft disasters!), but apart from that I’m open to suggestion. If anyone has any tips for slightly less labour-intensive handmade decorations, from baubles to garlands to scary gingerbread things, please share!

I love the hanging paper ornaments that posted by Derek and Lauren on Design*Sponge last week, and these look so easy and cheap to make: Modern paper ornaments
They’re a modern take on those old glass baubles.
I’m making cards that double up as decorations this year. Promise to post some pics once they are up and adorning the place.

They’re beautiful!
Your cards sound fab. Mine will be the usual Photoshop and Pritt Stick job, but I also solemnly swear to share.

I too love soulemama – and the inspiration she gives! (i saw your comment on her page and followed you here!)
Anyway, i wanted to share some of my favorite holiday crafts with you because 1-i don’t have much time (i am an interior design student) and 2- i don’t have much money! (i am a student!!) The fabric or felt trees couldn’t have been easier to make (look for pictures soon), felt balls are a huge obsession because i can make those while watching a movie with my hubby! and then beading them or even just stringing them into a garland is super fast and easy too. Like our dear soulemama – i am an instant gratification kinda girl, and i need to fit in my crafting between tons of homework. Anyway, i hope you enjoy my blog (its very new) as much as i have enjoyed browsing yours! countrystarv,blogspot.com

Glad you like the blog Victoria I shall hotfoot it over and see yours. The felt ball garlands sound wonderful. I’m going to make some garlands for me tree tonight, though I think they’ll just be simple paper ones.
