cup warmers

I’ve been keeping this post hidden for a couple of weeks, as I made these cup warmers for a friend and I couldn’t post until after her birthday (why do I always, always type ‘brithday’?), but now they can be unveiled! The inspiration came from a knit pattern that I saw on ravelry.com, but because I am rather impatient and lazy, I decided that crochet would be quicker and would enable the warmer to be created in one piece. Sewing pieces together is one of my least favourite things to do, it makes me unreasonably grumpy (which is why I’m crochetting my latest baby blanket in 12 squares instead of 35…)

So, what little elements of crafts that you otherwise enjoy do you despise? What tasks or finishing touches put you off making or doing something that you’d really enjoy?

Thank you so much for my lovely cupwarmers! I love them :) xx

I don’t like threading up my sewing machine, that’s for sure. It’s fiddly and the underneath bit is, if less complicated than I thought originally, often a bit frustrating. I do not have delicate fingers!

Em - glad you like them! xx

Mo - threading sewing machines is a biatch. I don’t like it either!

Aw these are gorgeous! I especially like the stripes and the buttons. I wonder if I could commission a similar cosy for my cafetiere?

Prewashing fabric before sewing it, that’s a bugger.

Jo - of course you can! Let me know the dimensions and what colours you’d like and I’ll whip you one up.

Fabulous cup warmers. I don’t even have the patience for crochet let alone knitting! I don’t like any part of crafting that takes time, cutting out pattern pieces and stuffing toys are two of the things that make craft slighly less fun for me. I would love to have a lowly pleb to do those two tasks for me (I’m trying to groom my daughter for the job.)
BTW, I have a Husqvarna machine - a breeze to thread and fills bobbins at lighting speed. Not cheap, but worth every penny I paid for it!

Hi Joanie! It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who finds certain parts of crafting intensely dull. I was feeling like if I liked to craft, I should like evry part of it - now I realise it’s not the case!

I hate crimping the ends of tigertail/softflex, the second one especially. I don’t like it when I have to join a thread in a big bit of beadwork either.
