:: About us
Four Good Corners is the work of a group of friends on a mission to fill your life with fabulous things from the worlds of craft, style, ethical products, and general fantasticness. We like peering around corners and discovering something new, and we love sharing what we’ve found.
Joelle likes going out with her camera, exploring her North London neighbourhood to discover interesting signs and quirky local shops. Probably more than going out she likes staying in, imagining herself the domestic goddess with smells of baking wafting from her kitchen as she designs her own wrapping paper. How far this matches reality varies, but it is a nice thing to aim for. Joelle is also Four Good Corners’ resident wannabe eco warrior, but please don’t call her that. She thinks green should be the new black and is always on the lookout for ethical and lovely ways of doing things.
Kirsty loves yarn and words, and is sure that there must be some way that she can knit the two together in a glorious literary yarnfest of colour and wonder. She can spend many a happy Saturday falling in love with gorgeous wool in her local South London yarn store and wondering if anyone that she knows needs yet another scarf/bag/soft toy/pair of gloves. Her next conquests shall be crochet and sock knitting.
Vanessa grew up in Yorkshire and moved to LA in the summer of 2006, where everyone is under the misapprehension that she has a lovely accent. She likes cities, writing, eating, throwing improbably themed parties, shopping at thrift stores and markets and trying to force Yorkshire puddings on her American friends. In her spare time, Vanessa likes to embroider things badly. It’s a learning curve. She hopes to have embroidered something nicely by the end of 2008.
Sonja lives in London and goes through phases of loving it and hating it. Current status: loving. She enjoys old person activities such as walking, visiting museums, and holidaying in sunny Britain. She thinks the world would be perfect if only it was rendered totally in cross stitch.
Kerry, our lovely tech/admin person who occasionally pops out from behind the scenes to post, lives in Brighton. She’s a great believer in the DIY approach and thinks that you can learn how to do pretty much anything from the internet. So far, she’s turned her passion for creating things into her own jewellery business (www.misskerryturner.com), a number of fantastic fancy dress costumes, a fair amount of music and (at the current count) half a pair of sensible black trousers. In her spare time, she loves to cook. And eat.
