Mmm, mmm - I spent Monday night cooking up all sorts of treats that your dentist wouldn’t approve of. This jar contains:
:: milk chocolate and baileys truffles*
:: dark chocolate and whiskey truffles
:: decorated gingerbread christmas trees
:: gingerbread cupcakes with red and green icing
:: gingerbread holly leaves
I didn’t make the candy cane, but I thought that it was a nice finishing touch.
* these turned out a bit sloppy because I over-baileysed them and I had to encase them in tiny cupcake cases - oops!

Oh gosh I am so excited and happy because my friends have just had a beautiful baby girl!
This red corduroy blanket (the scalloped baby blanket from Amy Karol’s brilliant Bend-the-Rules Sewing) has been waiting a while for her arrival, to find out what letter I should appliqué onto it. And now it’s ready, with a letter ‘F’ for Francesca. I can’t wait to go visit her and congratulate her happy parents!

The current issue of ReadyMade magazine has a Christmas gift for readers - an excellent free download album of 19 tracks which they have put together with San Francisco’s Noise Pop festival.
I’ve been listening to it loads whilst wrapping presents and cooking up more batches of chutney, and myself and the husband are both loving it. It’s sort of Christmassy, without being too Christmassy, if you know what I mean. You can download it yourself here.
If you haven’t read ReadyMade before have a look. It’s the only mag I have a subscription to and I’m thrilled when it arrives on the doormat and can’t wait to see what cool craft and DIY projects they have included. This issue’s DIY letterpress machine is pretty amazing but rather beyond my handyman skills I think. I might stick to their marshmallow recipe instead.

A week ago I set my fellow Four Good Corners bloggers, and any readers who cared to join in, the challenge to shop for a whole week only in local, independent shops. Of course I made the effort myself, and it is time to report back with a few conclusions.

I thought, dear readers, that you deserved a Christmas present from us. Something handmade, something useful, something to encourage you to get crafty with coloured paper and wool. So, I present to you the mittens pattern I made for wrapping paper, cards and gift tags.

Like any huge fan of Christmas, I like to have as many as possible. On Saturday I held a Christmas dinner party - on which, more later (except for a small crisis over giblets, it went well). But today my boyfriend and I exchanged presents. We’d set one another a challenge to make one another Christmas presents for a $30 budget. I had NO IDEA what he would come up with so I was really delighted this morning to open a wall clock made from a copy of my favourite Shel Silverstein book, ‘The Giving Tree’!
Fortunately he was also pleased with his Road Trip Kit…

I’m currently sat on the sofa, stuffed full of cheese and mince pies, and feeling very Christmassy, so I think it’s a good moment to share some of my festivities, and a great chutney recipe, with you all.

This picture, which Joelle sent me, always cheers me up. I was feeling quite daunted this morning as I thought of all the stuff I have to do today, both pre-Christmas dinner, pre-Christmas in general, and by way of packing - and then I looked at this.

Remind me who it’s by, again, will you Jo?
Since I’m feeling quite Christmassy, and am off to Disney tomorrow (hmm, a violation of the shopping challenge? What else is quite as corporate?) expect a very Christmas-orientated post soon documenting the success/failure of Christmas dinner and including the flying sheep, my very favourite ornament.
